In February 2025, I visited Switzerland in search of a certain old Tiger which usually resides at Emmen air base. Switzerland is the last operator of the single seat F-5 in Europe, which is due to be withdrawn over the next 1-2 years. 2x Fliegerstaffel 19 Northrop F-5E Tiger II deployed to Meiringen to work with the local 11 squadron F/A-18C Hornets. Fitted with a unique target tow pod, the Tigers still provide important training amongst the snow covered alps.
